Centering Prayer Circle

This year we have consistently offered the Open Labyrinth Walks on the 2nd Sundays from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Centering Prayer and the Labyrinth Ministry continue to be faithful to the spiritual
needs of our faith community. In 2010 we offered: a Lenten quiet day, a Good Friday Via
Dolorosa Walk, a guided walk and drawing meditation at Summerhill Children’s House on
the fifteenth anniversary of the Oklahoma City Bombing, and a children and adult Advent
Garden workshop, in addition to the monthly Open labyrinth Walks.

Participation in the Open labyrinth Walks is complicated by scheduling conflicts,
lack of understanding of contemplative practice, and a budget constraint on promoting the
event for the community. The funding for this form of advertising could cost over $1,000
per year. We currently have three Labyrinth Facilitators: Margaret Moss, Paula
Nightengale, and Lissa Qualls.

Excitement for the Meditation Garden increased this year with a generous gift from
Judi Mackey for this outreach of St. Matthew’s. It is her desire and ours that the Meditation
Garden be nurtured and supported as an outward and visible sign of our caring for the
spiritual and emotional health of our parish and community. Please let us know if you are
interested as we move forward in the planning.

Respectfully submitted,
Margaret Moss
