Our Rector: The Rev. Dr. John Toles
Fr. John was born in Louisiana, where he attended local public schools and the Episcopal Church. After graduating from Caddo Parish Magnet High School, Fr. John moved to Texas and received his BBA from Stephen F. Austin in Nacogdoches.
Following graduation, Fr. John worked as a Statistical Analyst for GTE Market Resources and later ATC Communications as an Account Representative. In 1996 he lived out a dream by moving to Montana where he became very active in the local Episcopal Church. It was while attending St. John’s that he received his call to the ordained ministry. Upon completing the discernment process, Fr. John was accepted into Nashotah House where he received his Masters of Divinity in 2004. Following seminary, he accepted a call to serve three congregations in SW Montana and later planted a fourth congregation in 2011, which would be incorporated into the existing regional ministry. Fr. John began working on his Doctorate of Ministry in 2009 and graduated in 2012, having completed his thesis project, A Pualine Approach to Regional Ministry, in congregational development.
Most recently, Fr. John served as Interim Rector of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Billings, Montana before being called to St. Matthew’s in Enid. He is housemates with his cousin, Janie, and their two spoiled dogs, Madchen (long-haired Dachshund) and Zeke (big goofy Poodle).
