Well-trained acolytes are vital to a smartly executed liturgy. St. Matthew’s Parish has a small but dedicated corps of men, women and young persons who perform weekly. Not only are they willing to serve as scheduled, they many times jump in at the last moment to cover for a fellow acolyte missing from formation.
When you see an acolyte doing an exceptional job, please take the time to stop and give them positive feedback. Think how our worship experience is enhanced by their service.
Funds have been approved for new acolyte, lay reader and chalice bearer vestments. In addition to some training/re-training sessions with Acolytes, we will soon be taking measurements so we can come up with an order for new vestments of the proper size combinations for those who serve at our altar.
Remember, there is no age or gender barrier at our altar. If you are interested in joining this important parish ministry, please contact Fr. Steve or myself.
We are looking forward to taking a large contingency from St. Matthew’s to Acolyte Festival at St. Paul’s Cathedral this Spring.
Respectfully submitted,
David Hume
