There are many ways to involve children in worship leadership.  Acolyte means simply “helper.”  Being an acolyte in worship may involve tasks such as carrying in and lighting of the candles.  Lighting the candles is a good starting place.   The acolytes get to be up front which identifies her or him as a worship leader.

Most children are excited about being an acolyte.  All they need is the invitation and training that will teach them to understand the meaning of what they do and develop the skills to do it.
